Jung Instituttet afholder sin årlige e-dags konference:
A one-day conference on Queer, Trans, and Homosexual Identities: A Neo-Jungian Theory of Personality Development and Natural Maturation
On Saturday 9 May 2026 in “Kulturhuset Indre By”, Charlotte Ammundsens Plads 3, 1359 København K by. With Stefano Carpani, Ph. D, Jungian analyst, Training Analyst, editor, lecturer and writer.
Programme CONF May 2026
Dr. Carpani proposes a neo-Jungian exploration of the intersection between queer, trans, and homosexual identities and mature adulthood, drawing on Jung’s reflections on
homosexuality and on his own clinical work with a patient referred to as Patty. The case examines how questions of gender expression, sexuality, and psychological maturation emerge symbolically
in lived experience as well as within the analytic setting, where they are understood as meaningful manifestations of unconscious dynamics rather than as symptoms to be corrected. Grounded in
Jung’s concepts of individuation, psychological differentiation, and the maternal archetype and complex, the lectures move beyond explanatory models that frame queer experience in terms of
arrested development or incomplete maturation. Instead of locating pathology in queer identity itself, queerness is approached as a natural configuration of the psyche, while analytic work is
oriented toward the development of autonomy, integration, and self-cohesion. The discussion is further situated within contemporary sociological perspectives on identity formation in late
modernity, emphasizing how social fluidity and expanded individual freedom complicate processes of self-definition in adulthood. Ultimately, the lectures argue that psychological growth in mature adulthood does not entail the normalization or correction of queer, trans, or homosexual identities, but rather the symbolic integration of unconscious material that allows for a more authentic and differentiated sense of self.
